Mission Statement

The Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology continue to serve as the premier providers for workforce development throughout the State of Tennessee.  The colleges fulfill the mission by:

  • Providing competency-based training through various types of instructional delivery systems of the highest quality that will qualify individuals for employment and/or advancement in jobs.
  • Providing high quality training and retraining of employed workers.
  • Providing high quality training that is economical and accessible to all residents of Tennessee, thereby contributing to the economic and community development of the communities we serve.

The purpose of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Murfreesboro is to offer quality instruction to individuals to develop them for employment and/ or advancement in existing or potential occupations.

Development of specific skills and knowledge in an individual is not sufficient. Desirable worker characteristics are also emphasized to develop character, good work habits, reliability, honesty, and respect for authority, all of which are needed for a productive society.

Technical education is the kind of education people need to qualify for more than 80 percent of the available jobs in America. The purpose of all skill enhancing programs is to dignify and to up-grade the social status of technical jobs and the people who work in these positions. It is also our purpose to be knowledgeable of the needs of business and industry in order to provide quality education for the specific skills and the latest technology required.
